California Division of Workers' Compensation Launches Online Portal for Submission of QME Medical-Legal Reports By Lonce Lamonte, editor, with the news release from the California DWC Newsline - April 23, 2024
The Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) has launched a new online portal for Qualified Medical Evaluators (QMEs) to submit medical-legal reports as required by recently approved regulations (Title 8CCR §50(g)) regarding the QME reappointment process. QMEs are now required to submit their two most recent medical-legal reports in which there was a face-to-face evaluation and the injured worker was determined to have reached the status of maximum medical improvement. If the QME did not generate two such reports in the two years prior to their reappointment date, they may submit a statement of explanation in lieu of the reports.
QMEs will receive updated instructions on how to register and create an account in the new online portal. QMEs should continue to mail their reappointment application, fee invoice and CME credits to the DWC Medical Unit at P.O. Box 71010, Oakland, CA 94612, as previously required.
